Microbiome signatures are only valid for specific age groups. The reason for this is that they are
based on scientific studies and datasets that include specific ages. Other age ranges may be
important as well, but without supportive literature, we can not consider them biomarkers with
predictive power.
Please keep in mind that conditions biomarkers are not diagnostic, but instead will alert you if there is a microbiome risk for developing a condition. If a microbiome signature is detected, taking action to course correct the gut may help with prevention.
Age window for Conditions Biomarkers:
- Eczema - 3 weeks to 6 months
- Food Allergies - 3 months to 3 years
- Asthma - 3 months to 12 months
- Atopic March - 3 months to 12 months
- Gestational Diabetes - Reported on the TTC or pregnancy gut microbiome test
- Preterm Birth (Vaginal microbiome)- Reported on the TTC or pregnancy vaginal microbiome test
If your child is past the age window for a condition, that section of your report will state, "Beyond Biomarker Age Range". However, you may still click into the biomarker to see the relative abundance of each microbe your gut for that conditions biomarker.
