Of course, if your baby has severe symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, blood in stool, fever, stop immediately and consult your pediatrician. In our experience, this type of reaction is rare with probiotics.
However, it’s normal for there to be an adjustment period on a new probiotic while your little one’s gut gets used to the new bacteria. We suggest trying the probiotic for 2 weeks to give them time to adjust and if symptoms persist, then consider switching to a different brand or formulation. Note that infrequent stools don’t necessarily mean constipation (similarly frequent stools are not necessarily diarrhea). Read more on our blog here.
If you know your child is sensitive to certain ingredients such as cows milk, soy or egg, check the ingredients and switch to an option without common allergens (our list in your Action Plan has several options).
