It is not necessary to adjust your diet, because we are not looking for a reaction to certain foods, we are looking for specific microbes that are in the gut that may be associated with an increased microbiome risk of developing food allergies and other conditions.
Therefore, we generally recommend obtaining a sample that reflects your (or your child’s) baseline. This means testing a sample when your (their) diet and health are closest to the baseline they will be living by, either with or without restrictions.
It is okay to consume food that contains probiotics when you take your sample. Unlike probiotic supplements, probiotic food does not need to be paused prior to sampling.
