It’s completely understandable to be concerned if something doesn’t look quite right with your swab kit. Let’s clarify a few things to help you feel confident and safe using your kit.
1. The tip of the swab looks discolored. Is this normal?
Yes, a slight discoloration, such as an off-white or very very light brown tint, is normal.
This is caused by the drying desiccant, which helps keep the sample stable.
Our swab technology desiccates the sample immediately after collection, so that bacteria can't continue to grow and multiply.
As long as the tube remains intact and the seal is not broken, you are good to go.
2. What if the swab’s seal was broken before I opened it?
If the packaging seal was already broken before you opened it, please do not use the swab.
This could mean it was exposed to air or contaminants, and we’ll be happy to send you a replacement.
Still unsure?
Feel free to send us a message with a photo of the swab tip and the packaging. We’ll gladly double-check it for you and make sure you’re good to go.
